Explain difference in Launch Control and Traction Control
I know I can turn it on and off. The Launch Control seems to be on all the time. I don't see any switches for it on my new 2012 GS. I don't see anything about it in my manual. Maybe I am blind. Thanks.

When using launch control, the car KNOWS you want to go fast. LC will allow some wheel slip and modulate your power to get the best launch it can.
Traction control, the car thinks you are losing control of the car and thus it dials your power WAY down and your car falls on its face instead of squirting forward at super fun speeds.
Found it in the 2011 manual, page 9-42

Same page in my 2012 book. Funny, it is not in the index or preface.
I need to go try it out. Sounds exciting.
Too bad the automatics don't get one. Guess they just don't need it.
Hold that peddle on the floor and drop the clutch.
Quote: "The Launch Control feature will initially limit engine speed as the driver radily applies the accelerator pedal to wide open throttle. A smooth, quick release of the clutch, while maintaining the fully pressed accelerator pedal, will manage wheel slip."
You also have to begin from a stop (not rolling at all), and the steering wheel must be centered/straight.
It doesn't say it in the manual (I don't believe) but LC also requires a "no-lift-shift". I believe that if you lift the accelerator pedal when shifting that it will drop out of the LC mode, so just keep the pedal-to-the-metal when shifting during your run.
Like it says in the manual, LC is intended for drag strip use. Your redline shifts in a base C6 comes out to something like this:
1->2 shift will be at around 55mph
2->3 at around 85mph
3->4 at about 115mph
A Z06 has a higher redline, and redline shifts will be about 10mph faster in each gear. Also, a Z51 has a little different gearing and will be slightly different.
Although the ZR1 has a 6500RPM redline, the redline shifts will be at Z06 speeds due to the different gearing.
Take a look at the great gear/speed calculator by forum member leres:

I was just saving time on typing. I did read the entire instructuions, and yes, it appears you flat foot it all the way through the gears.
I have a GS and the close ratio gear box is different than a standard
C6 box. 1st,2nd and 3rd are very close.
I have 1400 miles now. At 1500 I will do my first "Launch Control".

The Z06 has the same ratios as the base C6(but not the same transmission) but the ZR1 is the one with the close ratio gears.
GS- 1=2.97, 2=2.06, 3=1.43, 4=1.00, 5=0.71, 6=0.57
Base C-6 &
Z06 1=2.66, 2=1.78, 3=1.30, 4=1.00, 5=0.74, 6=0.50
ZR1 1=2.29, 2=1.61, 3=1.21, 4=1.00, 5=0.81, 6=0.61
All with 3.42 rear end. GS is lower out of the hole.
If I didn't state these correct, I am sure I will be corrected.
I thought I seen different numbers when I look before. I can't find the same source again. Have at it.
