I took my 360's wheels apart for a rebuild but while I'm doing it I was wondering if there is any way to know how good the batteries in the tire pressure monitoring sensora are?
My car is an '07 Z06. Does anyone know the lifetime of those sensors?

They are supposed to last 8 to 10 years but it's kind of the luck of the draw. I just replaced 1 on my 06 Z06. If yours haven't been giving you issues they are probably fine. Don't know of any method of testing them.
Owners manual sez 10 years. Someone posted a description about routing out the potting material on the sensors, replacing the battery and repotting with the correct material. A search may find that post if you are interested.
10 years may be the estimate for average use, which roughly equates to 120K miles.
There's a sleep mode prior to first activation to extend shelf life and a standby mode after the car is not moving for a while. The active mode sends reports every 30 seconds IIRC.
Short trips and stop & go traffic will use up the battery in less miles than long trips because of the non-moving time required before going into standby.
I'm at 95K on my '08, but will change sensors when I need the next set of tires around 110K, rather than chance getting to 140K without one or more dying.
All good info, thanks. Looks like they will most likely work for some more years since my car has only 30K miles.
Thanks!
