Default 2009 relacement tires

Hi. I am new to the forum and have a couple of questions that have probably been asked over and over, but I can't seem to find the answers. anyway. I have an '09 coupe with Z51. We use this car for long trips, and I neeed to new tires, and would like some recommendations and why. This car is not a track car, just a cruiser. tire wear is a very important consideration. Also want to use only run flats becaue we do tend to do a little "off roading". Finally, the tires show wear on the insides. I did have the allignment double checked when we bought the car, and I must admit that i have never seen a curve that I didn't like. Are there other alingment specs that would better for normal use? thanks for any help

The rest of the gang is going to beat up on you, I'll just say "The Advanced Search feature is your friend."

Summary:
The best performance summer runflats are the Michelin PS2 ZP, but they are expensive and don't last too long.
The Firestone runflats seem to last somewhat longer and cost less, but are marked "Do not repair" so a flat may require replacment.
The Michelin All Season ZP runflats give up some summer grip, but work better in cold weather (and snow, of course), cost less than the PS2 ZP and last longer. The changes result in a cost per mile that is about 1/2 of the PS2 or Supercars that came on your car. 5 cents/mile vs 10 cents/mile.
The only reason to use Supercar tires again would be if you got them free.

We have PS2 ZP for summer on one set of wheels/sensors, A/S on another set for winter.

Alignment- keep it simple.
0 toe front & rear. Toe-out kills the inner edges of your tires in a hurry.
.5 negative camber front & rear. Nice compromise between handling/ tire life.

Enjoy!

Hey Darryl,

I installed the Michelin A/S runflats on the C5 I had, and was very pleased with them. Check with Sawyer Tire in Boliver for a price. You can get a quote from their website.

Also, check with Lakeside Tire in Branson. Steve and Jackie(owners) belong to the Tri-Lakes and drive a yellow C6 vert with a wide booty.

My driving is similar to yours.

I installed Michelin A/S ZP on my C5 and found them to be so fantastic that I just installed them on my C6 coupe. I scrapped the GYs when they were only about one-half gone.

They role over those highway tar strips without feeling like they hit a wall and with no feedback through the steering wheel. For long mileage and quiet, I recommend them.

I was happy with the Michelin on my 06. I am also happy with the Continental E/T (extreme contact) on my 09.The Conti's do hook up unlike the crappy Goodyear supercars.

I recently switched to Pirelli PZero runflats. Grip and traction seem better than the GYs (and most independent reviews rate them better than PS2s...). Most noticeable difference is how much smoother they ride and how much quieter they are than the GYs.
