If you have a lift, it would seem easier to remove/replace it from the bottom. Unbolt the cradle, lift the car, slide cradle out--reassemble and reverse the process.
I can't imagine how you would remove it from the bottom w/o a lift though so I'm assuming that is part of that option.
No lift but I've heard if you remove the radiator cradle then it's possible to slide it through there if jacked high enough on jack stands. I've already got the hoist so I will probably go from the top.

I feel for you, as my (new!) car is in pieces as I do a cam swap and blower install in my garage. When you do the actual swap, please take pics and document, if you remember and have time.
Without a life, do it thru the top. I just removed one with a lift from the top last month. I am about to do mine, I will probably drop it out the bottom because I need to do other drivetrain work while I am at it. It is a little harder to pull from the top with a standard shift Vette. Just remember to lower the craddle when you are pulling out the top.
Bill pulling the engine out is relatively easier than putting the long block back in with manifolds installed, turbos hanging and down pipes intact. It's a tight squeeze with TTiX. So practice now while you can!
You can text me the new vocab of choice cuss words!
Never thought about hanging a floor jack off off the front skid bar for ballast.... This keeps the car from flipping off the lift backwards with the engine removed. Good idea

Yes Sir! Not everyone has a baller shop like you! Gotta resort to redneck ways often. As long as the extra weight helps from flipping backwards it doesn't matter if it's a jack or some bricks
That is outstanding. Did you really have the cherry picker in the back though? It seems like the tunnel would get in the way but maybe the angle of the picture just makes it appear that way.
