Default MT Drag Radial Sizes??

Im have a friend order me up a set of MT ET Street DRs...

I told him I wanted the 275/40/17s and he mentioned they werent really that big, which I know they are slightly smaller width than stock tires... but obviously theyre proven sticky tires here.

FWIW, theyre going on my 08 C6, soon to be cam only ls3 ~485rwhp, with GTO skinnies wrapped in M&H front runners... Looking for 10s.

Pretty sure the 3743R - 275/40/17 (26" diameter) should be fine, but is there any benefit / negatives (i.e. weight) to running the 3744R - 315/35/17 (25.8")?? Would the 315 even fit on the C5Z06 front rims on the rear of a base C6?

The only other possibility was the 3745R - 295/45/17 (27.2") but I liked the other tires having smaller diameter giving me a little more gearing, and this tires is going to be well over an extra $100...

Thanks for the opinions guys! Im leaning with the 275/40/17 FWIW...

[EDIT] Just was looking at M&H Tires website... They make a 275/40/17 drag radial, I know they are well regarded, esp with the Front Runners on this forum...
Not sure he can even get these, but anyone use theses?? Thoughts?

You should be good then, people have gone 9s on that tire, though I believe they were all automatics as well.

Yes, but it's not an ideal or perfect fit of course, I prefer 315s on a 10" - 11" rim.
I know of a few people that have used 315 Hoosiers on the C5 Z06 17x9.5s and it worked well for them though.

Wow, that must be a much newer size, last time I had looked over there the closest they had was a 275-50-17 (nearly 28" tall). The new 40 series (26") is probably a decent tire.

Ya, last time I looked at M&H they didnt have that size either... There now though ;-)

Told my buddy the 275/40/17 MTs though... $450 mounted and balanced sounds like a good price to me ;-)

Anyone tried the 295/35/18 MTs ?

I'm thinking of a set on front Grand Sport rims (18x9.5). They're a little narrow for this tire, but this way I could have my drag radial rims at least match my fronts and not look too goofy.

I don't think anyone has, but I have a pretty good idea as to the reason why that is as well...because M/T doesn't make a drag radial in that size LOL.
They do have a 305-35-18 and a 265-40-18 (I've used those) though.
I know that BF Goodrich makes a 295-35-18 drag radial.

Excellent point, my bad ;-) . Getting all my drag radials confused. BFG and Nitto 555Rs are available in 285 too. Not much else in the sub 27" 18s available for drag radials...

Might have to go down to 17" and just deal with non-matching rims, though there are grand sport repos made in a 17x8.5, though that is a little narrow for a 275/40r17....

i ran the BFG drs 295 x 18 on 9.5x18x65mm repo rims and was the first bolt/on in the 10s with that tire
