But I have read this forum to help me make my decision to buy a new 2012 grand sport corvette. I have it ordered and am expecting it to be in by the middle of march. First question I have is can I do little mods to the car right away. The only thing I think I want to do is intake and exhaust. I want a loud exhaust but not noisy in the car. Since I have been reading some of the conversations on here I am confident you guys will direct me to the right place. Thanks in advance. Jason

anything you do could void the warranty, if you mod get it in writing from gm, not the dealer, unless the dealer is going to give you the same warranty in writing
I'm an OEM type person and strongly suggest you protect that warranty since you are paying for it in the price of the car. Now having said that, I do wish my '07 was had a more robust sound from it. Its too quiet! For me, I'm out of warranty and think the Corsa Sport or Corsa Extreme is the way to go but haven't bought one yet. Now my '99 is just fine with its OEM exhaust system and I wouldn't touch it for anything.
According to the dealership that services my car, simple replacement of the stock air filter with an aftermarket CAI such as a Vararam or Airaid won't void the warranty. Also, axle-back exhausts with matching X-pipes such as Corsa, Borla, etc. won't void the warranty either as my dealership said they regularly change out the stock exhaust for customers buying new Camaros and Corvettes to these aftermarket axle-back exhausts and accompanying X-Pipes. That said, it is best to check with the dealer servicing your car to confirm this and best to get it in writing if you can. Also, doing the above changes don't require a retune of the car and a retune would likely void your warranty (so I am told) so be careful with this.
Now, for me, I have a totally stock car (engine wise) except that I have the Corsa Sports exhaust with matching Corsa X-pipe and an Airaid CAI intake. The sound of the Sports is great for me, much better than stock as I like my car a little louder. Also, absolutely no drone with the Corsas so upon reaching driving speed, the car runs almost as quietly as the stock exhaust. I definitely recommend the Corsa brand.
Congrats on getting your new Corvette and good luck on whatever you decide.
