Default Headers

I have a c6-07 and was thinking of installing headers! Does anyone prefer one over another, and who sells them at the best cost?

Yes, LOTS of people prefer one brand to another.

Personally I like performance and value, so I'd recommend looking at OBX and the Texas Speed longtubes. Amazing bang for the buck.

I'd recommend not paying for the name brand, but some people like that sort of thing. I prefer to get the power at the lowest cost.

I've never coated a set of headers and wouldn't plan on it unless you did a lot of road-courses or your headers were subject to a lot of road salt.

~25rwhp is about the norm for longtubes.

Dumb question but will a set of headers bolt up directly to factory x pipe? or is an aftermarket x pipe needed? Sorry to hijack the thread

I've been looking on line, hard to find a dealer for oxb headers, do you have any suggestions on where to purchase?

Mr jlr,

From what I see when you purchase the long pipe/ cat back, it replaces your oem pipe, for better sound, and Hp...

I am ordering a set of American Racing Headers (AR) for my 2011 GS, but if you want a set at a much cheaper price, the OBX seem to work pretty well from what I have heard.

Just remember, these OBX headers are made in China. Are they made from quality 304 stainless? ... I don't know for sure.

There is a sponsor here that I believe does sell OBX ... Give Dennis ar DoubleDDmods a call. He had a group buy on OBX a couple of years ago, but I think he still sells them. (608) 568-3011

I would suggest LG headers for the most HP/TQ and quality.

They offer a cheaper street series and the super pros.

Differences between the 2

  • Street Series use a 4 into 1 collector vs. the true race-style merge collectors on the super pros
  • The super pros uses a larger 3" diameter mid section vs. 2.5" for the streets.
For most the Street Series are going to cover most bases. These headers will support over 450 rwhp and are designed for the bolt on to mild cam'd Corvette. Super Pro's should be looked at for anyone wanting to build a car over 500 RWHP.

I purchased LG (quality is top notch) for my 05. Sold it after a year and put the LT's on my 06. Ran them for another year and then pulled them off to install TT's. Sold the LG's on CF in less than a day for $250 less than I originally paid. They held up well and held thier value.

you will need to get custon o2 extensions made for the OBX as they do not come with them. The shop that installed mine made mine for me.
Just FYI. I love mine we got great gains with them and I have had no issues with them at all.

I went with the Kooks headers with the matching catted x-pipe. That was my personal choice. I saw some of the chinese knockoffs on ebay, but I chose to go with a name brand that I heard good reviews about. I didn't want to have to redo it in the future. I did get my headers and x-pipe coated since it will potentially see rain, etc. I live in GA, but do plan on driving it all year long if I can.

OBX are worlds apart from the ebay headers.

No one has had to "re-do" OBX headers.

Kooks are quality pieces, for sure and will still make plenty of power....they all do Longtubes are the first mod that separates the men from the boys in the mod world. TONS of people have intake/mufflers, but taking the step to longtubes separates you

You'll enjoy whatever header you decide to go with.

Borla also makes their header (XR1?) that looks identical to the LG Pro, but for about 600 less. I know Borla used to, or still does make the LG Pro, so I'm wondering what the difference is, if there is one at all?

Maybe JWmotoring can respond, or LG. It was asked before but went on deaf ears.

OBX headers only come in 1 7/8 for the 2005 ls2, and I'm under the impression I'll be leaving some torque "on the table" unless I get a 1 3/4 header.

They have a website, so I know I can order direct, but if there's a vendor here that reps OBX I'd certainly give him support first, i just don't know of one

i'd say go for the LG streets and take advantage of that low end troque and response they give
especially for an automatic car

nice improvement indeed
not to mention so easy to do

just get a good tune afterwards

Why do you think they provide more low-end torque than OBX?

Probably due to the smaller primaries...with that being said, I have the 1 7/8" LG pro's and love them but if I was the one paying for them that's not what I'd have lol.
