Performance Chip Kit???
A buddy of mine just asked me about a performance chip for the C6. It's made by G Force. It list for $399 and it on sale for $69.
I have a custom tune on mine and I don't know diddly about this item.
Kinda smells like BS to me. Can anyone enlighten me about this chip? Maybe we can save him a little dough.
the chip is a thing of the past. They were used on computer controlled chevys before OBD 2. Pre-1995 you could just change out the chip, right thing to call it is a prom (programable read only memory)
the only way to change the computer programming in your car is to hook it up via the OBD 2 connecting under the steering wheel and have the software to program it. drive safe, paul
It's a junk 2-wire piggy-back "module" that plugs into the MAF wiring . I'm not sure if it modifies the IAT signal or the air-mass signal to the ECM, but I don't see it as being anything but bad. The fact that they list it as being available for almost any car in existence should make you even more suspicious..
I Have a 65 Nova, will it work for my car? Do you know what kind of enhancement it would make?
I don't know, but on a chevette, it's adds "60hp", effectively a 100% power increase. All you have to do is find that MAF wiring to plug it in. Maybe it's somewhere around the carb.
Get your car tuned on a dyno.Anything else is crap including hand held tuners etc....A dyno reports all relevant info to the tuner, so that he can make the necessary adjustments to tune your car to the max.Remember every single engine has small variances.
