I recently purchased a C6 from a Chevy dealer. A friend of mine told me the dealer from which I made the purchase will modify vehicles they sell such as adding tint or leather seats. He said they even go as far as outfitting camaros with supercharges. I had never heard of a dealer adding performance modifications to a vehicle they sell. Is this something that is in fact done and I've just never heard of it? I guess my question is... Is this something anyone else has heard of and if so, will they leave my warranty intact if they are the ones doing the modifications?
As for warranty, a dealer can't control what warranty claims GM decides to deny. A dealer may say a mod they install won't void the warranty but they really don't have any say. Now, there may be a way around some warranty issues that a dealer is willing to try to take but they would be risking a lot. I have "heard" of one or more dealers who will absorb the cost of repairs on non factory parts they install but I have no personal experience or knowledge.
Soft parts like interior shouldn't a problem but you have to careful when it concerns hard parts like drive train, suspension, etc. IF having a warranty is important to you then don't mod the expensive stuff until the warranty runs out. OR you take your chances no matter what you're told. May work out okay, may not.
I agree w. the posts above, esp. the full explanation by Rick. But even IF there is a "dealer warranty" on the parts and labor, you have to ask yourself this question: just how long is it good for? Meaning, if the dealer's ownership changes 2 years down the road, that may be a promise made from a prior dealer owner. Not to mention, if you take a trip and the car breaks down, will your dealer reimburse you for the expenses? I guess as long as the car stays local and can be easily towed if that's ever needed, you'll have no problems.

Back in the day, some dealers were infamous for their modified Chevy's. Yanko was one of the big ones. And they those cars are quite collectable these days going for some serious $.
There is a Ford Dealer in my area that will add Turbo's and Super Chargers to the new GT's he sells and will warranty them.
Not sure of the details, but know it can be done.
The ford stuff is a little different. You have to buy a Ford racing whipple supercharger and have them install it and then you will still have a factory warranty although its for a more limited time frame. Ive never seen anyone do a turbo kit for the mustangs though. (I had two 2011 Mustang 5.0's) As far as I know Chevy doesnt have a similar program for the vette.

They were Yenko's. Also Baldwin Motion cars, Berger cars, and a few others. Modified is one thing. Modified with a factory warranty is something else.
