Default Probing the ECM cable connectors?

All,

Need to take some resistance measurements on the J1(X1) cable on the ECM to debug a problem I'm having. I unplugged it and convinced myself not to poke a wire down into the female socket. Last thing I need to do is hose the ECM connector. The male pins on the ECM are 0.64mm square and I think I have some of those at work but I'm curious how others have probed the ECM connectors. I have the Molex part number that would mate to it but the only place I've found it online (Mouser) has 5wk lead and $500 min buy. Even if I had one the mating force, even with the lever arm, might make working with the mated pair overkill.

I wonder what the GM "tool/probe" looks like?

Anyhow, I'm sure if I get some .64mm sq pins from work that will do the trick.

I usually improvise something, but a brief search revealed the Pomona 6481 probe kit which seems like it would be handy for these sorts of applications.
