Default Zo6 brake conversion.

Is there any other changes, other than the calipers and rotors, that I need to made to my c6 brake system to function properly with the bigger Z06 brakes? e.g. the abs or master cylinder components? I heve noticed that some of the part numbers are different but I assume they will be compatible and work great, thanks for any input.

You need the z06 brake lines too and some new copper crush washers (available at any parts store). I've been planning to do it for years now but decided against it since I race my car and they add weight but no performance gain.

But they do look cool.

They do look cool, and I autocross so I hope to see some gains in performance. I plan on doing the two piece rotors too to make up some weight saving. Thanks for reply.

Default Offset?

Make sure your aftermarket wheels have enough offset to clear these bigger calipers. OEM for your car will not fit.

If performance increase is your goal, do some surfing in the Autocross and Road racing section. I haven't been there in a while but I seem to recall guys having problems with padlet taper with the z06 brakes. Probably worth checking out, your conclusions might be different than mine.

I recall reaching the conclusion from my reading that it was pretty much a cosmetic gain only, our stock brakes are very good (I can testify to that from my road course days, with the right pads & right tires they will pull the fillings out of your teeth) and don't suffer any of the problems that the fixed calipers have, and our pads are much easier to change. I got my pad changes down to one bolt per wheel and about 1 minute using the two screwdriver trick. Takes me longer to take off the wheel than it does to change pads.

Oh that's such a good point I forgot to mention.

Z07 wheels will fit the z06 calipers. I had a set on my car and they were really nice. I gave them to a friend, they might be for sale again if you're interested.

Thanks, I have heard some similar conclusions.....I'm not gonna lie half the reason is cosmetic..
But I have heard of one piece front pads for them? haven't researched it yet..

I think there are. I get ebay updates on z06 brakes as I'm looking for a deal on a set and I think you can single pads and cheap rotors for them.

But swapping pads from street ceramics to track pads is never going to be as easy as it is with our brakes.

I agree with you on the looks. They look great.

I just bought the calipers myself, I have talked to people who did the upgrade and they have said it was a pretty big difference with just fronts over our current brake system. I have noticed when stopping up top (130-140 mph) I get brake fade even if it's the first time doing it so fade shouldn't be an issue until after constant braking. I am hoping this is a decent enough of an improvement for me.
