Default Front motor mounts

Of the two motor mounts, is one more prone to breaking than the other? Is it common for just one to break?

I have a customer w/2006 Z51 that thinks they are bad. I'm just curious about statistics.

One OEM mount on my 2006 went out around 45k miles. Only the passenger side broke.
Not sure how helpful one data point will be, but if others have experienced the same it might help form a pattern.

Only reason I knew it went out for sure was the brown goop that was sprayed all over that side of the cradle and oil pan. Plus the whole car started shaking when starting from a stop.

Well its not common on a stock vehicle, unless they are in extreme enviroments where the rubber gets exposed to salt air, extreme cold ect... But it can happen to any car. motor mounts tend to break under lift or compression of the rubber when the motor shifts during acceleration. Not much of an issue on lower horsepower cars, depending on the design of the mount, sandwich type or enclosed. C6 have enclosed mounts. But yes its very possible especially if the motor has been pulled before and the mounts were not seated correctly after reinstall. But the stock C6 mounts are designed more for comfort than performance to reduce engine vibration throughout the vette. Softer mounts are weaker. Possible...yes.....Likely....most likely. Motor mount are pretty destinct when they are bad, there is not mush confusion when you hit the gas under acceleration and you hear the motor twist and start making that metal to metal thump sound every time you hit the gas.

but a transmission mount can sound the same also, and on the C6 i think they are sandwich type mount, they are the type that are most prone to tearing and failure. If the car came from the north and he drives during the winter and gets salt corrosion on the mounts they will deteriorate quickly. But i dont see many people drive vettes in the snow, lol

So if there is fluid does it mean it's bad? Bc only after I had my oil pan replaced did I notice my drivers side had a streak down cradle, but it still looks still and feels just like the passenger side and there is no noticeable shake with acceleration. Just curious.

I had the driver's side go out twice and the passenger side once. Dealer replaced all three. Afterwards, I took out the new OEM ones and I replaced them with the Pfadt solid mounts. Mine probably went out from autox and HPDE use. Certainly not weather or road conditions.

When they go out you'll find brown oily sludge sprayed around as the rubber tears. I didn't feel it so much as I spotted the mess it made.

How do you like the Pfadt mounts? I have been thinking of changing out to them.

I've been happy with them. But you will feel more vibration at times. I only really notice it just off idle at around 1K RPM but I also have poly suspension bushings so they create their own feedback.
