Default Help!!! Need an input shaft

Well the clutch was making a grinding noise when letting it out in first and reverse. Turns out the pilot bearing was seized and has worn a groove in the input shaft. Does anyone have one of these laying around???

Car is an 05 6 spd manual, Z51

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I don't have one...............other than one that looks exactly like yours.

I have a 2005 coupe as well, and when we took it apart for a transmission re-build and a new clutch (put in a RAM twin-disc with aluminum flywheel) the shop found the same thing. We also found that the rear driveshat bearing was toast (rough and making nosies).

I wound up buying a new driveshaft.

I'll update this thread just for anyone who searches for the same issue in the future.

I had zero luck finding a used input shaft. RPM transmissions didn't have any and every salvage yard told me that the usually sell the rolling chassis, and this shaft goes along with it.

I ended up taking my damaged on to my local machine shop and they fixed mine for $135. It can be fixed by either spray welding material back onto the shaft and then machining it back down to the required .059" diameter, or it can be ground smooth and a sleeve pressed on that is .059" in diameter.

Hope my headache(s) helps someone else out later on.

Forgot to mention, a new shaft is about $750 from GM. I was able to find a dealer who would sell it as low as $500+ tax, which is still way too much.

Here is the repaired shaft, good as new

I usually sleeve these and get rid of the pilot bearing. You can use Partnumber PB656 bushing and use a solid brass bushing.
