Hmmmnnn
not sure if there would be a gapping issue or not
but if you want to try, i have one i am trying to sell
those bolts are long though
not sure if clearance might be an issue with some exhaust pipes
Not sure how much a thicker plate does on a C6. There was some benefit to going with a thicker plate on a C5 and the factory incorporated thicker plates into the C6. If it would have helped to increase the thickness more than they did they could have easily done that.
I did it. I also added a 1/8" spacer between the two OEM plates for even more rigidity. Didn't notice any real change but I don't drive very hard.
Best move right there. But not necessarily for the right reason. The space between the plates allows additional airflow and twice the surface area to provide more cooling, which is a main reason for the plate. Without a plate, the exhaust pipes would not only heat up the interior beyond belief, but also heat the torque tube, automatic transmission fluid lines, and fuel lines.
Considering the size of the holes, the low torque specs on the small bolts, and the thinness of the attachment flange, the plate itself has minimal structural benefit.
