Default tuner questions + others

Hey, I have a superchips cortex programmer for my car. I have a 2006 a6 z51. Does anyone know how well the cortex programmer works for my car? The thing is, it's locked from previous use. I just want to know if it is worth it to pay 100$ to unlock it.

As well.. I can not shift with my paddle shifter when the traction control is kicking in from the tires spinning. Is there a way that I can tune that out?

Can I hook up a dual mode ls3 exhaust to my ls2?

Is the wcc hurricane intake a true ram air? Does the shroud actually provide a good enough seal to do that? What is the best cold air intake for the ls2?

Any insight is greatly appreciated, guys =)

You might try asking in the C6 Scan and Tune Forum. They live for tuning stuff over there. Good luck.

You can use dual mode exhaust. As for the traction control, the tranny will not shift if it is active. I don't believe you can change that.

Default accessory power

Here's another question.. When I shut my car off, my radar detector still gets power, leaving it on. Is the car supposed to do that?

Depends on where you have it powered from. Unswitched source like the cig. lighter then yes it will stay on till it runs the battery down. Switched power like the rear view mirror then no, it will go off when you turn the car off.

I have a superchips cortex programmer. It says it should add about 15 horsepower and torque. I had to spend the 100 dollars to unlock it from a previous car I sold and it was worth it. Personally I like the Vararam air intake. I had it on my C5 with exhaust and the superchips tune. It really opened that car up!

Just a little info from on hands experience.............
I owned an 06 A6 std cpe prior to my GS. Back in May of '11 I bought a set of NPP Mufflers from a forum member. After installation of the mufflers, I had terrible KR in the closed position. So bad that you'd swear somone was under the hood with a coffee can with marbles in it. Well I went crazy tying to figure it out. Recalibrated the MAF, pulled timing, no luck. Finally I contacted a friend with a dyno and started picking away at the possibilities. Turns out when the baffles were in the open position the KR disappeared. In the closed position it was back to the KR. Needless to say I put the stock mufflers back on and was back to normal. For the life of me I cannot understand what the affect of the closed baffles had to cause the issue, but just wanted to let ya know its not always a guaranteed problem free swap.
