Default Magnaflow cat back

Question for ya all. I bought this Magnaflow system sometime last year.

and it came with an xpipe as part of the kit.

Now I am looking to add headers to the exhaust and cant figure if long tube headers would connect to the xpipe I already have, or just get headers and a new xpipe. If anybody had insight to this I would appreciate the help.

If the headers have the factory pick up points for the factory position for the cats then, yes most definitely. Magnaflow does not make a shortened mid section as of yet. But who knows they may make a shortened midsection in the future. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the help, but I remain confused! Will headers bolt up, because yes they mount to the original downpipes, or get a set of headers and a new xpipe?

No! If you get headers, you will then need a new X pipe for that "brand" of headers. Usually, you can buy both at once.

They will as long as, the end length of the collector is of the same length as the factory. You may have trouble finding a manufacturer that will go back that far though. You could always have the Magnaflow midsection cut back at a local exhaust shop.

I have the same Magnaflow system. If you put on long tube headers, you will have to use the header manufacturers x-pipe and hook it to the over the axle pipes which then will run it thru the Magnaflow mufflers. So buy your headers with a 2 1/2" x-pipe and you are good.

You have a good point Rick. If you buy a set of LG headers use their x/h pipe if at all possible. Same applies for a set of Kooks or any other brand. The fit and finish will be much better.

Alight, I think I got it then. I will need to get the header manufactures x-pipe too, or find a header that reaches the stock hookup point the factory h-pipe mounts to. There goes my thought of a set of $900 headers. Im trending towards kooks, but with headers x-pipe and cats its closer to $1400. Thanks for all the help too, this forum and you all rock.

You almost got it. You need headers and an X pipe that END where the Magnaflow X pipe ends (at the beginning of the over axle pipes). It would be nice if the Magnaflow X pipe ends at the same place as the stock X pipe, which is where header X pipes are designed to end so you can use any over axle pipe as long as it's the right diameter.
