Default adding power seat to right side

Has anyone had any experience of adding a power seat to the passenger side? I have a 2007 C6 with power driver. I can by a used power seat frame however I wonder if the wiring is still there and can I add switches to the seat? Any suggestions?

You will need the passenger side power seat harness. I am in the process of doing what you are doing right now. Here is a link to a technical write up of what you need to do: http://www.kawal.net/power%20seats.htm . The only difference between what you have and what this Z06 seat has is the seat heaters and maybe side air bags.

Thanks for posting that link Bill, hugely helpful & great pics..
I plan to firm up the upper side bolsters & also put .5" of additional foam on their support bolster frames to make the seat effectively narrower for the torso.

I did the "Kawal mod" to my 2006 Z06 several years ago.

My Z06 had the highest trim level features (side airbags, heated seats, memory, etc.). Butt....of course the seats didn't have the adjustable lumbar support or side bolsters, and didn't have the power passenger seat.

I got a pair of seats out of a base C6 with a high trim level that included all the stuff my seats already had, plus the adjustable lumbar/bolsters, and 6-way power for the passenger side.

So.....like Bill said, if all you're getting is the frame to mount the seat you already have on, you'll still be short the adjustable lumbar/bolsters, however those can be added separately.

If anybody does do this mod on a 2006 or newer C6 by getting a pair of seats, make sure you get seats out of a 2006 or newer - the 2005 passenger airbag system is entirely different from the 2006 on.

Ray Kawal's website that Bill put up a link for has all the info you need, but here's a forum thread with some other discussion about the mod:

You will run into a few frustrations along the way. I just found out the metal adapter plate that holds the power seat switch and bezel to the side of the side of the passenger seat is on national backorder and they don't know when it will be available. The guy I got my used parts from thought he had one but he can't find it so more than likely my bezel and power seat and lumbar switches will be hanging from the side the side of the seat.

Aw dayum - that sucks!!!

My installation went very smoothLy. I bought a pair of seats that had everything already on them. I just swapped my Z06 seat skins on and they were ready to install.

My Z06 doesn't have OnStar, so I didn't have to deal with relocating the box.

The only thing I had to do was run the power wire to the connector under the passenger seat and bolt the seats in.

My only frustration came when I had an airbag light. The seats came out of an accident car, and I was told the "airbags didn't deploy". Well...they must have been talking about the side airbags - and they obviously hadn't, but I finally figured out that the front airbags must have.

The seat belt receptacle was down a little further than the ones on my Z06 seats, and I finally realized that the seat belt pretensioners had fired.

I pulled the seats out, swapped the seat belt receptacles with the pretensioner device off my Z06 seats onto the new seats, reinstalled and no airbag light.

Overall it's an outstanding mod, and the car should have at least had the adjustable lumbar/bolsters and power passenger seat as an option from its introduction.

Another thing I missed on my '06 Z06 was the the power pull down latch for hatch closure that I had on my '05 coupe - so I installed that in my Z06 as well!!
