Default Z51 Oil Temps

I have an '07 coupe with Z51 option. I believe there is a factory Oil and Tranny cooler (built into the radiator?) as well as an external Power Steering cooler.

1. Is this correct..?
2. My oil temp is running around 220-230 on local road twisties with ambient temp still in the 60s... How high is this going to get when I do the track (HPDE)??
3. What high-side oil temp should cause concerns?? I understand the oil really start to work at around 200-215..

Comments?? Thanks!

Those are normal temps for a stock engine. If you install a 160* thermostat , your oil temps @ cruise will run 205* to 215* [ with ambient temps @ 80* F or below] As far as track temps go , you will need additional cooling to control or lower your oil temps.

B&M 70264 = 65$
Derale 13035 = 8$
Extra 4.5ft 11/32 transmission hose = 15$

add this cooler to the top port of the EOC. zip it to the condenser. 26F fluid drop in temps.

Carl.. this is an automatic tranny cooler.. I have a manual... I think the factory oil cooler is inside the under sized radiator.. Maybe an external oil cooler?? (and the 160deg stat mentioned as well)...

I just read on C6 Performance Corvette's page that the 2007-2009 Z51 package did NOT have a EOC option?? Is this true.. does my 2007 Z51 car not have any additional EOC built into the radiator?? Anybody know. I'm thinking about adding an aftermarket oil cooer.

My oem 2008 Z51 has: External engine oil cooler, External power steering fluid cooler and an integrated cooler with the radiator for the manual transmission oil.

FWIW - on my 530rwhp 08' w/Z51 in normal cruise it sits at 196 and will only move a degree or two. When doing the twisties where I live it will range from 205 to 218/ and I have a 160 t-stat

Yeah, I gotta install the t-stat. but I don't know how much it will do without the fan adjustments (with a tune).. it's all 'on the list'... just trying to sort out the order of things. I will put in the stat myself shortly and see if without any programming it makes any difference in the running oil temps..

My old 485 rwhp LS2 saw 205-225F oil temps around town and 270+F on the track while short shifting. Had to take cool down laps in the middle of the session. Swapped oil to Amsoil Zrod 10w-30 and added a Z06 oil cooler and now see ~265 on the track shifting at redline with no cool down laps. I ran Mobile1 0w-40 for a few events and saw about 5F less that the Amsoil temps, but that cold have been me not pushing the car as hard.

Hope that helps.

That's news to me. I'm not sure why they'd have an EOC in '05-'06, stop in '07-'09, and then start again in '10. I have seen the external EOC on '08s so I don't believe the info you read is correct. I also have an '07 Z51 and assumed there was an EOC inside the radiator. I thought I recalled seeing some extra lines coming out of the radiator last time I was under there(?)

Not hard, couple hours and 15-20F lower temps if I had to guess. Routing the. SW lines between block and motor mount is the hardest part.

Same as you around 220 on the street, as you drive on the highway the temps will drop a bit due to air flow as expected.

I got a take off Z06 cooler with lines and it is simple to install with factory lines.

it works well with engine oil too, has internal bypass, uses same size fittings as oem.

I have two 06 z51's, m6 and a6 both have engine and trans coolers in the radiator, with external p/s coolers.
