Hi there, new to the site. Purchased a 2008 Z06 this past fall. In December I took it in for a small trans leak and they had to replace the transmission. The magnets had broken loose and damaged the gears. Fortunately under warranty still. When I got it back, I noticed a whine coming from the trans when cold. If you put it in gear it makes the whine. IF you push in the clutch it will still make the noise but put it in neutral and the noise stops. Once the car is warmed up there is no noise. It is worse when the weather is cold. It had not made the noise before the new trans so I took it back in. They replaced the throw out bearing and the torque tube. Noise is still there. The dealer contacted GM and they said this is a normal noise due to the heavy duty construction and the fluids not being warmed up. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. It only does it when it's cold so I am thinking they are right, but could use some peace of mind
The transmission is brand new. And the noise is only there when cold. Once warm it is gone. That was why I was wondering if anyone else heard this sound. The colder the noisier. If I start it up when it is 30 degrees it is a lot louder than when it is say 50 degrees.
