Default LS2 cam setup - please help

Hi guys,

I have a 2005 Corvette LS2 manual stock with full exhaust (headers and catback) and I want a cam setup.
The car is driven mainly in the city, I want a nice sound at iddle but still to be a good daily driver. The cam should be ok for a future supercharger upgrade. I'm looking for torque not top end power.
What setup would you recomand ?

I'm looking at

N230 SDPC LSX Camshaft 230/238 .565/.595 115

TSP 228R 228/228 114 (don't know the lift but it's around .585)

any other sugestions will be great.

Thanks,
Mihai

There are a bunch of options out there. Out of the two above I would pick the 230/238 cam.

Or maybe do a blower specific cam. What are your long term goals with the car though?

Just the blower on stock engine next year, max 10 psi.
I want to keep the car very driveble, I use it a lot in the city.

Well the TSP cam has 0 degrees of overlap and the 230/238 has 4 degrees. Not anything to be overly worried about. The 230/238 cam will make more power and putting it on a 115 or 116 makes it more blower friendly.

I found another option from RaginRacing
224/232 116

I found a clip with the same cam specs, but 114 lSA

As Tim said 116 LSA makes the raginracing cam more blower friendly, but will it sound the same ?

Can't find a clip with 230/238 116 though....

No the higher LSA the less choppy the idle will be, because it takes away overlap. I had a 228/232 g5x1 114 and really liked it. It was mild but would have been perfect for FI.

I have a gt13 lingenfelter cam on my DD. Runs great, nice idle and is used as a blower cam. but as previously stated there are many different options. This one has worked great for me. GOOD LUCK!!!

thanks guys for the info.

After talking to SpinMonster and I decided on this setup:

COMP CAMS 273 XTREME XE-R XER273HR 224/230 .581 .588 114
LUNATI 7.400" ONE-PIECE PUSHRODS
LUNATI GOLD DUAL VALVE SPRING SPRINGS KIT .660" MAX LIFT
C5-R timing chain

he said I should mill the heads to get a plain surface if I go with 7.400 pushrods so everything will line up perfect

Sounds great!

Do not mill the heads too much if you plan to add a blower in the future. You do not want to raise compression too high.

The correct pushrod lenght for this cam should be 7.430 . I'll go with the 7.400 and just shave the heads and do some porting. Any ideeas how much should I mill ?

.005 is about 1cc. Getting down to .025-.030 would be raising compression higher than ideal conditions for FI IMO. Think that would be in the 59-60 cc range and 11.5:1 on a ls2? That is exactly where my car is but it's NA. I would have to change back to stock heads to run FI because I milled down to 60 cc, and I had to flycut.

Thanks for the answer but the question was how much should I mill to use the 7.400 pushrods when the correct lenght for this cam is 7.430 .

From my calculation would be around 0.015-0.018 (that's about 0.5mm) ?
