Need some help in figuring this out. Installed some Kooks headers a few months ago and recently got a check engine lite. HP Tuners showes that the right sensor was slow heating up, unlike the left one, after start up. Once I get going it starts to cycle like the left.
Replaced both 02 sensors and all seemed ok for a short time, then CEL came on. Is there any other possible cause for the o2 sensor heater on the right side to be slower than the left?
Is this a by-product of Kooks headers? Anyone else have this issue?
Disabled codes but would like to know if there is a solution.
The headers moved the CATs away from the heat source. You should kill all of the codes for the rear O2 sensors to stop the codes. The rear codes are just telling the ECM that the CATs are hot and working. The front O2s are the key to the ECM and engine performance. I have all rear O2 codes turned off.
Thanks for the reply Elmer. I have elimenated the back o2 sensors and disabled the codes for them. This problem is occuring with the Right front sensor. I looked at your web listing for codes and will be checking f10 in the underhood fuse block.
Also did a continuity check on the extensions and they looked ok. Just don't see why the right side is slower to heat up vs. the left.
Looks like both codes point to a wiring issue. Bad ground or lack of voltage getting to the O2 sensor. Both codes also mention checking the ECM for a bad seal on the connector. Any battery juice dropped down on the ECM?
I thought it was rear sensor code but that is just reading comprehension issues here in Jax!
This happened to me and I thought it was because of my long tubes. Car didn't like to hot start very much and ran like crap for a couple minutes until the sensors heated up.
Turns out there was a wiring disconnect in the fuse block not allowing the heaters to get current through them. Fixed that last week and car runs amazing compared to before.
Elmer, comprehension is valuable. Been there, done that.
I looked at the wiring diagram and will be checking grounds and connections.
Will be bringing home the DVM to do some investigating.

If those were my headers I'd flip flop the o2 sensor extensions and see if your problem goes to the other side.
