Default What converter & stall speed?

Tired of waiting for a used set of headers to come up & looks like I just got scammed on a Corsa axle back so now thinking maybe do the converter first.

Car is a 06 LS2. Obviously A6.

Which converters & which stall speeds should I be looking at?

I will only drag the car maybe 2-3 times a year so it's mainly a street car. I don't want to create something that is not a joy to drive around town as I don't beat on the car every time I get in it. However, I'm ok with not being like it was 100% stock, but I also do not want to go to any extremes.

I am only planning full exhaust, tune & maybe a cam later on in addition to this (Already have a Vararam intake on it)

Also, what should I expect to pay for the converter install? The shop I plan to use uses Mike from Rapid Motorsports for tuning. Anyone have experience w/him? I'm looking for a good trans tune obviously.

No matter what aftermarket converter you go with you might run into some traction issues from a standing start if still using street compound tires.
Drag radial rear tires can help a lot if that starts to become a real hassle for you after the converter install.
For your uses/needs I would probably go with something in the 2800-3000 stall range from any of the major late model Corvette torque converter manufacturers (Precision Industries-Vigilante, Yank, FTI, ProTorque etc.).

Circle D 2800. I bought a 3200-3400 and it is a little loose (my fault). It is the 3rd converter, but 1st for my Vette. Regardless who's converter you buy a monster cooler preferably one with a fan.

I've installed several on friends cars and I also have one, no one has complained, drive ability is as good or better than stock.
I have a Yank SS3600 but I have a lot of mods, you need to call and speak to Mike@Yank and tell him what you plan for your Mods and he will tell you what you will need. He's very good with Vette's.

2,800 seems a little low. I'd like to shave at least .5 off with a converter. I'm going to add a drag radial for the track of course. I had a 2,800 in 1 of my old Mustangs & it was no fun for me.

Dave,
I had a 3200 Yank in my baby but as you know, it's in the shop now. For what? A Yank 3600

What made you go from 3200 to 3600?

What gains did you see w/the 3200?

I replaced my stall when I changed my diff. gears. I went to 3.73's with the 3200 stall. I was still daily driving and not serious about my best time at the track.

The 3200 felt like stock but was good for .5 at the track. The best 60' with the 3200 is 1.59 but typical is 1.68-1.73. I want consistent 1.5 60's so I'm having the stall re-flashed to 3600.

Go with the yank SS3600 if you are sure you will be doing a cam.Yank SS3200 would be ok with no cam and very little track usage.

Jeff,
I guess I am still behind you. Probably nothing a couple of pulls will cure

Any suggestions or experience on a converter with a pd blower and 3.42 gears. I'm on the fence about doing one and get conflicting advice all over.

Yank makes converters that are designed for use with superchargers. Give them a call for more info.

I have an A&A 8 pounds (10 and meth by 4-25), LS7 exhaust, factory 2:73 gears, and 3400 stall. I think that 3:42 gears are not necessary, but that's just me. Wednesday evening is Test & Tune and I'll get back to you with some results.

Looking forward to the results. How does the 3400 drive on the street ? Oh, and by the way, "necessary" and mods dont work well in the same sentence. We do most of this stuff because we are very very ill, not because its necessary.
