I never use them, but sometimes I bump them and the car downshifts and then bounces off of the rev limiter before I realize it. (I hope that does not hurt the engine!)
You should be able to just disconnect the wires to the paddles. You'll need to pop the air bag off and remove the painted spoke ends on the steering wheel to get at the paddle and the connectors.
Zip-Corvette's how-to on installing their paddle-shift inverter thingie (a nice product, btw) shows how to do all that. It's really much easier than the novice might think.
Hold the steering wheel properly and you wont have to disconnect anything.I have never heard of anything so ridiculous.G.M obviously didnt just stick paddles on there for people to hook on them by accident. The guy either has chubby fingers or is putting his hands in the wrong place. It is amazing what some people write about in some of their posts.

It's easy to do if you're turning the steering wheel hard enough to make a 90°. Ask me how I know. And I don't have chubby fingers.
