Default Brake cooling duct

While replacing the brakes on my 05, Z51, I noticed the right front cooling duct was missing. I ordered a new one and found it is different from the left side. The inside wheelwell end of the duct is closed with about an 1 inch hole in it, whereas the one on the left side is completely open. Is this whe way it came from the factory or has there been a design change and I have the newer issue. Sorry about lack of a photo but I can't find my camera. Thanks

I have the same car and mine is open on both sides. Did you check to make sure the plastic duct isn't just disconnected from the wheel well cover and not bouncing around behind it? That happened to mine when I changed the fog lights I didn't secure it right and it came loose.

Sorry for the delay, it is #3, part #15252919 What I am not sure is if the representative picture is for that part number. My left side is wide open whereas the new one for the right side looks like the picture! So I am really confused!

My 08 Z51 has the openings the same size as the duct. My mom's 09 NON Z51 has small holes on the ends of the ducts. Don't know if it was a year to year change or a Z51 vs non Z51 change but maybe this info will help you.

best i can tell, there are 2 different sets, one is marked as Z51 and other as J55. see #3 (4 of them , 2 lefts and 2 rights, J55 & Z51)..

Yes z51s have the open ducts, nonz51 has the ducts with 1" holes. I read somewhere this has something to do with the aero targets for the base car. I think the base car has a slightly lower drag rating and can go a little faster. The z51 was made for autocross, non high speed. That being siad there is no piratical difference except the z51 has better brake cooling.
