bottom line is the output FROM the trans, top line is the Return to the trans.

thats how its supposed to work to avoid air pockets, fill from bottom up.

The bottom line goes towards the back of the car, to a weird metal box above the differential. What the hell is that? By the way, the differential also has a cooling line there, which is baffling to me. Until I get my service manual, can't figure out the routing. And finally, where is the cooler pump for both the differential and tranny? Is that metal box I just mentioned? Didn't see any external pumps on my MZ6 on my squeezed view under the car. Thx.

The transmission pump is mounted in front of the trans. The differential pump is inside the rear diff cover. The metal box is the heat exchanger between the trans and the differential.

Would that then correspond to the lines at the trans as well ? [ Z51 , no differential cooler ] . One line connects low and towards the front of the trans, the other line connects about mid way back and near the top of the trans. Is that upper line the outgoing fluid to the cooler? Thanks .

The line coming from the front of the trans goes to the radiator and the line going into the driver's side case is the return line.

The ones with the heat exchanger, the line returning from the radiator goes back to the rear heat exchanger and then to the main case.

Only the Z06/GS/ZR1 have the diff heat exchangers.
