I know this has been beat to death but the search is letting me down. Im looking for a mild cam for my 2008 LS3.
Car already has ported TB/Intake, Haltech and full Z06 NPP Exhaust. The car made 426/419 Sae already. I know that picking a cam for a Ls3 is a little different then a LS2. So this is why im turing here.
Im hoping to be around 475 with a mild cam. I really dont want to ruin the car like I did my GTO with a large cam. The Vette is so smooth!
There are lots of good opinions on what defines a mild cam. When I selected a cam for my 09 (6 spd manual)I was after very good street manners because I drive my C6 to work everyday in Vegas. Plus I didn't want a noisy valvetrain. I sat down with Gil, the manger, of Shelby American Motorsports and came up with a 224/.609" (XFI lobe) intake and a 230/.573" (XE Hi lift lobe) Comp Cam (Don't remember the LSA at the moment). It met my requirements. 465 RWHP on a Dynojet. Very streetable and a nice wide TQ curve. The only others mod is a set of LG 1 7/8" headers/3" X pipe and Z06 mufflers. With the mufflers in the open mode the cam sounds great.

Any surge? What are you idling at? Did you do any supporting parts for the cam? Last question, are you still on stock clutch?
