Default Magnetic ride control question

My friend just picked up his new GS. Someone mentioned to him that there were some clips or caps on the shocks that had to be removed for the system to work.

They bought it at a very small dealer and were curious if they would know to remove them in the dealer prep.

Anyone have any idea of what these might be or if they even exist?

Nothing that I've ever heard of!!!

I've had 2 C6's with MSRC and it's nothing I've ever heard before.

I'm quite sure that there's nothing that needs to be removed to "activate" the system.

The wiring harness from the shocks to the ride control computer should be hooked up on the assembly line and ready to go when the car leaves the factory.

Butt.....maybe somebody else knows something I dont!!

Bob

A quick search through fprum postings suggests that this was done on the C5s when the MR shock stuff first came out but that dealers were forgetting to remove them with obvious results. They have not shipped cars with those blocks in them since mid C5 season and never on the C6. (again, just repeating what earlier posts here have said.)

If your friend is looking for this as a reason that he/she can't feel a difference when throwing the switch from soft to firm, then he/she needs to grok that "hard or soft" is not was the F55 system is about. It's about "response to input" so just judging the thing by how it rides over a bump is probably not going to give the feedback one might expect.

Besides, if there were shipping blocks in there the thing would/should ride like a freight car. You'd most likely *know* something was wrong.
