Injector help
I'm buying a set from a gentleman on this board and he was kind enough to send them to me on good faith before I paid him. They arrived and they look absolutely identical to my LS7 injectors

However, there is a different number stamped in the body of the injector. Does this number equate to if its a 7 or a 9 or is it a lot # of some sort?
I'm not suggesting this gentleman is trying to get over on me by eany means. Matter of fact, he seems to have more integrity than most I've ever met on any car board. He told me that they came with his Edelbrock supercharger kit and he went with a larger injector.
I just need to verify that I'm not purchasing the same injector I already have since they look identical. Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Jeff
There are 6 holes in the tip and the number on the black part of the body of the injector is: PA6 0280 158 187
The number on the silver cuff is:116 1308 3645

The ZR1 injector has an axial offset to the spray pattern. Do you have any of the injector data for this injector? This is not going to be plug and play in your car. You can get through issues, you will need the inj. data but you are going to have to play with the wall evap to compensate for the fuel being sprayed against the head instead of a open valve.

I have maxed my factory ones to the point where the duty cycle is too high. I do understand that I would definitely need a tune to run them but never heard of them having any struggles/issues needing a work around. I've seen a small hand full of guys with Z06's make use of ZR injectors but never heard anyone mention the fuel hitting the runner wall? Wouldn't where the spray pattern goes be dictated by the injector port on the intake moreso than the patern of the nozzle?
I'm trying to learn something new here, so don't be too harsh on me

Thanks,
Jeff
Lots of guys use stuff that they probably shouldn't. It doesn't mean that it will not work though. The ZR1 injector is offset in the intake runner on the ZR1 so the injector tip holes are at a 20 degree angle so that the fuel coming out of the nozzle sprays at the open valve. When you put them in a LS7 the relation of the injector the valve are in a different spot so the fuel is no longer being sprayed into a open valve. There would be some who argue this and would say oh whatever it will still work, in a way they are right, but GM would have never done this, which is why they had Bosch make a special injector for the ZR1. You will have to spend some time playing with the wall to fuel evap, you may just want to try increasing it globally and see how the car runs, maybe increase it 15% to start off. Just watch the WB and see how different driving conditions have a effect on tip in etc.
Now with that said there are other injectors I would have gone with. I too started looking at the ZR1 injector and the GT500 injector. I found a 51lb injector that is not offset and it is the correct size for the LS3/7.
I do not have the data on it yet but I am working on it. I think I will be able to sell this set for under $400 for the set. They are also not "re-drilled" injectors, they are brand new injectors. Anyways try the ZR1's for now and see how they work.
So what are you doing where you ran out of the stock injector?

When I took it to the dyno, last summer I was told that my injectors were cresting 80% duty cycle with the Exhaust, Cam, ported stock intake and Cold air setup that I had. It was mentioned to me that if I were to further modify my setup to introduce anymore air, that I should strongly consider going with a bigger injector. Fast forward to now, I am in the process of putting together my FAST 102 Combo and going with the Large Halltech setup. So while I was gathering parts I decided to move up to a larger injector.
I was strongly considering converting the car to E as well but there are just not enough gas stations down here in S.C. to make that a logical choice considering I like to drive my car on road trips during the weekends.
