Am looking to do a brake caliper swap out and want to get all my ducks in a row first- Any specific brake fluid go into the reservoir ? Is it silicone??
If you will not overheat your brakes by going to track, DOT3 might be the best choice for you. DOT3 lasts much longer, is durable, and can withstand more moisture than a high performance (i.e. high max temp) DOT4 brake fluid would, which is why most manufacturers use DOT3 on their street cars.
If you do intend to drive your car at a road course, however, I would go with a DOT4 fluid (like Motul 600, ATE Super Blue or Typ 200, Prestone, etc.). If you go with DOT4, you'll have to replace it more often than recommended in the user's manual.
You should never use DOT5 as mentioned above. DOT 4.1 just means an over-glorified DOT4 (read much higher max temps than the requirements), so you can use that, too
