Default Exhaust question

I've run searches here and on youtube and got some help, but I'm turning to forum members for better info...

I've got a 2012 Grand Sport with 1 7/8 American Racing Headers with no cats, a tune, and a mild blower cam. I've ruled out Borla because of drone, and I'm leaning towards Corsa. I know the LT headers and no cats will make a Corsa exhaust loud, but it is hard for me to determine how loud. Many of you have said youtube is very misleading.

I don't want to be obnoxious at idle, but I'd like a mean growl when I get on the throttle. I will not consider the Corsa Extreme. Pretty sure you'd hear me a couple states away. My choice is between Corsa Touring and Sport. I'd love to hear from someone with similar mods on how loud these will be given my mods. I'd like to be able to have a conversation at idle/cruising speeds and I'm not sure if my mods will make the Corsa Sport roar at any RPM?

Probably not what you want to hear, but I'd go (and did) with the Z06 exhaust and a controller so you have the best of both worlds (loud and quiet) at the touch of a button. You'll also save a lot of money over any aftermarket exhaust.

The nice thing about Corsa is the cabin volume. Even on their extreme systems it never gets over the top... can't hear your radio loud. Even though outside the car it can be rockin loud. They do a great job of keeping the exhaust behind the vehicle. The only company that we've dealt with that is even close to Corsa on that level would be Solo Performance. But, they don't have any Corvette systems yet.....

I actually considered this but I don't want to have to mess with a controller. Just don't know anyone with my setup to compare corsa touring vs. sport in person so I can hear it.

I had Corsa Sport on my car when I had the offroad x-pipe and it was LOUD with drone in the 16-1700 range. You are correct in staying a way from Xtreme which is what I have now with high flow cats and it is about the same as the old setup including drone.

This may help some. I have an LS3 with 1-7/8" ARH with cats, custom build with cam and B & B Fusions. With my set-up it's definately nasty sounding with flaps open or closed - but with them closed it's significantly quieter, and you can have a conversation as well as no drone. You can hear them close and open in the vid - good luck on your search.

I had a few friends that had Corsa exhaust and one with a B&B system on their cars with headers, no cats, and a cam and they both switched to a setup like mine. I run LG 1 7/8th Super Pro's, blower cam, no cats, and stock NPP exhaust. I love that I can open and close with the push of a button or leave it closed and they will open above 3500rpm.

Well I just watched a youtube video again of Borla comparing Touring, S-Type, and Atak.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz0e4FT-xZU

I actually like the Borla sound the best and would probably go with S-Type. My concern is still the drone but Borla claims they have worked this out and there is no drone now. Can anyone who has recently purchased the Borla S-Type confirm this? Prefer a comment from someone with LT headers and no cats so I can get an apples to apples comparison.

I would definitely consider the new borlas. Any exhaust will have at least some drone in low rpm without cats.

And the 2012 Z06/ZR1 mufflers are bodacious.

Borla may sound tremendous but the rolled tip look is as ugly as it gets.
