Default Keyless Entry issue

I have a '06 C6 convertible and my mother accidentally washed my #2 key fob. Now I'm trying to reprogram the new #2 I just got in the mail. The new fob has a battery in it, just so you know. I've followed the instructions from the manual to the "T" and I can't get it to work. I got to the step where you turn the key 5 times, nothing comes up on the DIC. I messed around once and got the "ACC to off, auto learn" so I did, and it counted down to 10 minutes....nothing happened. So I tried to do the procedure once again, and now the message won't appear at all.

I've looked all over the internet for solutions and nothing seems to be working. Is there a waiting period that you have to wait after trying it once before doing it again? Any ideas on how to get this to work?

fyi... some say you might have to turn key up to 20 times before it counts 5 for real, as it doesnt always work with only 5 times

Just went back out and tried 5 times, 10 times, 20 times, 30 times and nothing is working. I don't understand how I got it to work that one time only and not now.

while i search the forum for 'tricks' when turning key isnt working.. note that USA models can be programmed but foreign and i think Canadian cannot and must be done at a dealership (cant tell from your profile where your located). will post if i find some 'tricks/hints'.

fyi.. some have said going thru washer didnt 'break' theirs, did you try opening and replacing battery in the old washed fob?

try this first, if it doesnt work you can read the other links.. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1570351932-post19.html

ok...not done yet...now for the new short method of adding a new fob (#3) adding the new one worked out good. I can start the vette, lock, etc. Now I'm getting a message saying options unavailable when I try to set the user name of the fob when I use it. -_-

fob#3 & fob #4 dont have memory and options. you already have 2 programmed before you added the new one. sounds like you have to do full delete of all fobs and program the 2 working ones

I thought those key fobs were water proof. A wash cycle and it's dead?

fyi... some have said that they had to press fob door lock after all programming for it to take effect, one said they walked away and door auto locked and that worked.

Not really waterproof.

However, it seems like about 80% of the time they will work after being washed. I'd be careful not to push any buttons, open the two halves (very carefully!) and let it dry out.
