Default 08 C6 A6 Trans supply/return line identification

I have my 08 A6 trans out for a rebuild and I am installing a trans cooler. Which trans line is the supply and which line is the return? Which one goes to the top of the radiator and which on goes to the bottom of the radiator? I would think the supply line goes to the top of the radiator and the return comes out the bottom. Any help would be appreciated.

You say you're installing a trans cooler. Are you going to put the "new" cooler in series or stand alone? I've tried it both ways and the stand alone temps are about 20 -25 degrees cooler. The routing to the new cooler doesn't matter. If you're running in a cooler with 1/2' AN fittings in series - use the following parts list .....

2 - Summit 220649 6AN to 1/2" NPT threads
2 - Summit 220687 6AN 90 degree end swivel
2 - Summit 220690 6AN hose end straight
1 - Summit 230606 stainless steel braided hose - 6 ft.
1 - Dorman 800-605 fitting (available at your local parts house)
1 pkg. 12055 from Pure Choice Motorsports - you will use only 1 fitting if you run your cooler in series
1 - Russell 640830 M16 x 1.5 to -6AN flare fitting.
1 - B&M 80278 mounting kit
2 -1 1/8 x7/8" grommets - Lowes (you'll need to make 2 holes in the side of your shroud for your cooler lines). I used my Dremel tool for this.

I have a 70266 B&M cooler and it keeps the temps in check. No problem.

Good luck

Default good info

Thanks Red Rocket I want to try it in series first with the cooler on the return side after the radiator. That was the reason for the post.
Thanks
