Base C6 - Rear End Noise
OK , what is a noise.
Here is what is happening. When you are at a complete stop and initially begin to move (fwd or Rwd, it doesn't matter) the car begins to creak. This is in a straight line, no turning. It almost sounds like rubber bushings flexing but others think it is a metallic popping noise. Once you travel 10 ft. it stops, perhaps road noise takes over and you can't hear it any more.
Well, I have done a bunch of internet Covette forum searches and this is what they say:
* Re-torque the rear axle nuts - Did that
* Lube the rear axle splines - took them apart and greased the splines and spline flanges
* Tighten rear stab. bar hardware - did all that
* Change rear diff. lube - drained the rear diff. and installed GM LS gear lube.
The noise is still there. Just out of curiosity, what/where are the rubber mounts for the rear transaxle? Perhaps they need lub or to be retorqued.
I am running out of ideas here. HELP!
Bob
