I received an Airaid "CAI" as a gift for my 2006, manual tranny.
I wanted to check with any one who has already put one of these on if they have any secrets or things I should watch out for. I noticed that step 1 is to disconnect the battery. Is that so the computer will recalibrate itself to the new mixtures after the install?
I put a CAI on my last vehicle (2009 Pontiac G8 GT) and it threw a CEL due to the extreme change in mixture. Has anyone had the same issues with the Airaid? I am not going to tune my Corvette as I still have 30,000 miles on my warranty.
I've had the Air Raid on my 2005 LS2 for about 2 yrs now. The install was pretty straight forward. Just follow the directions. They want you to disconnect the battery so it can "calibrate" itself to the new air intake. I didn't get any check engine lights. It's run great since I installed it. The minute you "step on it", you'll hear the difference. Good luck.

Thank you in advance for any information.
I recently put an airaid on my 06 , manual trans. I did not disconnect the battery, I used my predator to clear the fuel trims. [ it will reset after a few days driving by itself, if you don't feel like disconnecting the battery. I did find when I data logged after the install that I did have to adj. my injector slope around 4%. If you don't tune afterward, no worries as you are still within the range of correction of the PCM. Once your warranty is up, a tune may be helpful for best WOT A/F ratios. The airaid filter has so much more surface area , and with the larger air bridge , I felt a significant improvement in throttle response. Wish I had done this sooner. I also opened up , [ cut] , the shroud to let in some cooler air, and also added a cover,[ a haltech beehive ]. It fit with a little cutting.
Super straight forward install. Remove old stuff, put in new stuff, the drive. It gave me very noticeable throttle response improvement and a cool little whistle from sucking so much more air in.
Just finished the install and went for a quick test drive. As you said it was pretty straight-forward. The hardest part was getting the new bridge-tube over the throttle-body. Man it was tight, but that is good. Took a bit of adjustment to get everything lined-up, but once I did, the fit is very solid and the unit looks stock.
I was originally concerned about disconnecting the battery because I didn't want to have to re-set everything. The battery was disconnected for about an hour and the only thing that needed to be reset was the clock. All the radio station pre-sets held and the built-in garage door opener thing too.
My initial reaction is VERY positive. The throttle response seemed much better than what I expected. I know you can truly only get so much performance out of a bolt-on like this. I actually didn't think I would even feel anything, but I can assure you I did. There is a little patch of rubber on Warner Ranch Drive to prove it.
This is a good product and I would recommend it as a cheap, but effective upgrade.
