Default Ported intake manifold dyno results

We just received dyno results and this note from Barry at Jerry's Chevrolet Corvette Center in South Dakota. They installed the Radically Ported Intake Manifold and Ported Throttle Body from Peak Speed Shop and are thrilled with the results. We love getting the before/after dyno reports from shops like this because they reflect non-biased results of our work. Take a look.....

Bob,

It’s been awhile since we spoke but I wanted to share with you the results of the installation of your radically ported LS7 Intake and Throttle Body. Attached is a dyno sheet showing before and after results of installing your radically ported intake and ported throttle body. I want to tell you that this car is a 2009 Corvette Z06 with long tube headers, a performance air filter, performance camshaft and OEM mufflers – It has been dyno tuned before the installation of your parts. It is running 92 octane pump gasoline. The before and after results show only the addition of your parts – we didn’t do any tuning to influence the results. The gains were very similar to your estimates. Peak power rose 15.74HP and peak torque went up 10.67 ft/ lbs at the rear wheels. What is more impressive than the peak numbers is the fact that the power gains were much larger in the lower RPM range. Take a look at the graph at 3500 RPM – before the ported intake and throttle body the power levels dipped a bit as the cam “started to come into its own”. With the ported intake and throttle body installed the power levels do not dip at all and gain close to 30 ft/ lbs of torque and 20 HP at the rear wheels! To say the least I am very impressed by your products and service.

Thank you.

No, it was tuned after this dyno test. If I can get copies of the dyno results after tuning, I'll post them. Tuning should make the results look even better.

Some members said they couldn't read the dyno graph. Just changed format from bmp file to jpeg. Let me know if anyone still has a hard time reading the dyno graph.

Looks like a great mod though

Whats really interesting is that this makes a case for airflow demand in the front of the engine with deep breathing cams. I'd imagine that the extra reserve air from the posts in the manifold being removed does in fact matter.

Great result Bob. Who trained you in porting?

I went through extensive training by one of the best in the business. I'm trying to recall his name.... it was "Spin" something....

What's the purpose of the "post" that are removed during the radical port job? I've never understood why they were there in the first place.

When the manifold is constructed it is made of three pieces and sonic welded together. The posts help line up the three parts when they are assembled. They also help reduce resonance. So, removing them may cause the manifold to resonate more engine noise. Most customers don't notice or mind a change in resonance if they can gain more horsepower without them.
