Guys,
my 2008 C6 has 25K miles, but since they're 90% highway, I've never changed the air filter. Can anyone outline the steps involved and your recommended brand--other than K&N which I consider too porous and open.
TIA
The stock filter provides all the air your engine would ever need, so why sacrifice filtering ability? And those who doubt it, if it's good enough for a 7L engine revving to 7K rpm, it has to be more than enough for a 6.2L one revving to 6.5K rpm, just by simple common sense . Just change it. Instructions are on your owner's manual. Just loosen a clamp, remove MAF sensor connector, and lift. Once out, it's self-explanatory. Only a few torx screws. Good luck.
Since nearly all your miles are highway, you should easily be good to 50K. That's due to both a lower engine speed per mile and a generally cleaner running environment.
Relax and enjoy it for the next 25K.
My 2008 had its air filter changed at 75,000 miles - I drive on dirt mountain roads, country back roads, and highways - and RAIN too. The filter looked like it really didnt need replacement.
It's a GREAT huge filter - and in my opinon a GREAT design too. The best air filter I ever saw!
