Default Clutch advise ....

I have a 07 z51 headers, npp, and tune. My clutch is starting to go. What clutch set-up should i go with? I don't track it, but i drive the hell out of it. I know the stock clutch isn't the greatest. What do you guys and gals think?

From all of my six clutch installs I really liked the Center Force Dual friction clutch with a lightened flywheel. Some like the LS7 clutch and for good reason stock feel and holds good power.

Personally when my stock 08 z-51 clutch goes I will be upgrading to the Ls7/Zo6 clutch. This is based on tons of hours reading this forum. Keep the stock pedal feel with the ability to handle your power levels, with extra room for power upgrades without worries. Good Luck

Well, the LS2 clutch is no more. So, if you replace with stock clutch, you'll get the LS7 clutch for your 07 car.

I just did my clutch in my 07 I went with a Monster Street series stage 2

I only have 200 miles on it so far so im still breaking it in. I did like how it looked very heavy duty compared to the stock unit. They put terrible clutches in the stock cars.

For the clutch and the new flywheel i think it cost me like $650 bucks

So far im pleased with the clutch pedal feel ( slightly firmer than stock ) I like a firm clutch but to firm gets tiring sometimes

I would stay away from GM parts. Seems like anything i can replace with a Aftermarket product is 10x better than anything stock.

Careful with this statement...... OEM is actually high quality, and usually costs accordingly. There is a guy on this forum with 436 drag strip passes and 68k miles on his stock clutch! Of course driving technique will greatly affect each persons experience.
To say that all GM parts are bad is obscene. Granted your new clutch may be much much better, GM seems to have done well balancing clutch pedal effort with durability to handle the power supplied. Not to mention OEM parts ALWAYS fit better than aftermarket, which is a very common complaint with aftermarket parts for anything. - (this is not saying that no aftermarket parts fit well)

$650 with a new flywheel included seems awfully cheap! Keep us posted on the performance/feel of it please.

Agreed. Some OEM parts might be lower capacity than you'd want, but they are almost always very well engineered. I actually only ran into issues with my cars when I started modifying them: my confidence for aftermarket parts/tunes is very, very low.

The LS9/ZR1 twin disc is a good clutch but a costly one. If you do purchase a LS9 clutch you must use the LS9/ZR1 slave cylinder do to the size of the clutch assembly. I've have used Spec twin clutch which was a good clutch but a tough clutch to engage. The Mcleod twin clutch is a great clutch and I think you must shim the slave when you install this clutch. I can tell you this that a ZR1 clutch is smooth as silk great pedal feel and holds great. That's my two cents worth of clutch knowledge

477 passes and 65,000 daily driving miles on my stock OE clutch.

OP why do you say your clutch is going out? What are the symptoms?

the stock clutch in an 07 is the same one used in a Z06, I would suggest learning how to drive a clutch, modern clutch'es are pretty much "lifetime" anymore.

You ever hear of premature failure. You know all the parts don't always last as long as each other. SA. Maybe you should learn how to drive. I've been driving stick before you were probably born. You probably drive a automatic.

peddle high, getting a little chatter in 1st a couple times in the last few days.
I'm going to change the fluid today, it's getting dirty. We'll see if that dose anything.

I thought the Z06 clutches where used in LS3 engines or did they start that a year prior?

Sounds like it needs adjustment...they are self adjusting but perhaps yours is out.

On the c5 there is a procedure to adjust it but without the split bell housing I don't know how to do it on a c6.

I'd suggest you go romp on the car a little an get the clutch hot, it won't hurt it and maybe it'll force it to adjust.
