I can't decide on having my 243 heads polished and CNC ported or getting a set of trick flow heads. I understand places such as AFR can do this and custom grind a cam to match. If I could see a flow chart for the original LS2 heads (243) it would be of great help. Some say you can't get serious gains from the 243's, some say you can get a lot out of them. Anyone that has had 243's done would be helpful. Thanks.

Cartek has been getting great numbers out of the 243heads for years reaching over 500 rwhp

One can definitely get some great results (both dyno and actual road/track) from a properly ported/polished set of 243/LS6/LS2 heads along with the right cam and spring package.

True.
I'd give Cartek Racing (www.cartek.net) a call at 908-317-4496.
AFR doesn't port stock heads, they have their own casting. Total Engine Airflow and Livernois Motorsports have good 243 programs. AFR, TFS, and Mast Motorsports have some great aftermarket castings if you want to go that route. You can't go wrong with any of these options.
Some of the fastest 1/4 c5 cars have had ported 243 heads over the years. With that being said, I wouldnt dump the money in to a ported 243 set unless you use somebody like Cartek that has proven Dyno, 1/4 et and mph results. I've seen some pretty lame results from some cnc 243 heads at my old tuners shop.

intake - 295 at 600 lift ex port flows at 215 at 600 lift.. you can compare these to the Texas-Speed stage one ported heads. Almost identical. My car is making 515rwhp on a 408 stroker with a 233/240 600 112lsa cam. Heads are holding me back but on a stock LS2 it should do pretty well. I recommend a fast 102 before wasting your time on stock heads. You well gain 20+ and with the heads you might see 15+ I also got my heads done for free so I didn't expect massive gains. Trickflows are on the way as we speak
