Need Some Help - FOB Related?
Recently my car has had some trouble starting.
When I go to unlock my car or pop my trunk, I notice the lights a lot dimmer than usual and I know I will probably need a jump to start the car. It is a little weird because I have checked the following things:
Car Battery
Alternator
Starter
FOB Battery
Everything is ok. Battery is strong, so is everything else.
When I go to start the car, it is completely dead and usually says "no fobs detected". Ive tried two different fobs, and swapped the batteries on both. When I try to start it by putting the fob in the glove compartment, it gives me power back to the entire car, but it does not start. Press the button and nothing happens. The ONLY way the car has started is by getting a jump from another car. The car instantly turns on when hooked up to another car. When the car finally does turn on, my radio stations, trip mileage etc are all reset.
This happens very sporadic and it's starting to get annoying.
Summary: Lights are dim, flicker until no lights. Car doesn't turn on. Get jump and car immediately starts. Basics checked and everything ok.

When you swapped the FOB batteries, were you careful to put the "+" sign facing the right direction? When I had to search for that on here, I noticed a lot of guys did that incorrectly. As soon as they flipped it, everything was good to go. If you're still able to unlock and lock the car, I don't think the FOB is the issue, however.
It really sounds like the battery to me, or even possibly the connectors. Is there any corrosion on the terminals?
