Hey guys sorry if there is a thread that covers this but i have been searching and can't findit. i have a 2006 c6 that the air only blows on the floor and defrost. it's cold but i want it throug the vents. i have read a lot and i am assuming its a vaccum issue but i can't seem to find a good diagram so i can get into it any help would be great!! thanks1

I hope it's not the same problem that happened to me. Mine did the same thing- took it to Chevy dealer and had to order 3 parts (per tsb). Parts weren't too expensive(my cost around $70or $80, but had to pull dash out to replace. A very big job- cost around $1,000, but they fixed it. The part that was defective resembled a roll up window shade, it has different holes in it to direct the air to different vents- somehow it was torn and wouldn't work. This is the first one that they had done, so I don't think it was a common problem, although their was a tsb from Chevy on the problem. Mine is an '05 coupe.

The mode actuators were a significant problem on the C5's and GM just continued using them in the C6. We've been seeing more reports of failures on '05's and '06's in the past year. So it would seem to be a longevity issue with the material. One possible good news point is they have changed the "color" of the material used so "hopefully" that means it is a better material and will last longer. 
There are 4 units in the dash. If you go to the trouble, work and expense of replacing one you should replace all of them. Otherwise you're risking having to do it all again later this year, next year...etc. "Generally speaking", the cost of a dealer replacement on these has been right around $1500. I don't consider it a DIY job but if you're capable, one of the threads below gives some insight.

If you do end up pulling the dash apart, be proactive and replace the heater core. Cheap insurance. Mine died and spit coolant into my cabin.
Replacing it was one of the most aggravating repairs I've ever made, on any car. Ever. There's nothing behind that dash I would ever want to have to go into a second time.

LOL thanks guys! i guess my hope of finding a vacum line loose or punchured is shot. 
it blows nice cool air out of the floor and top,but it's hot as hell in kansas i want those vents, I am a DIY but don't know if i can find the time here lately might have to wait till this fall
