Default Track update, nothing to write home about.

Track update

I had nothing to do last night so against my better judgment I went to the track last night with the world's slowest IO GS. There was one other LS3 vette there, a stock auto running 112 mph.

Temp was 88 on car display, Drag times says 84 with a D/A of 1780.

1st pass, right off the street, thru tech, air down the rear tires to 27 psi, no burnout, “Launch control” ON, stage, car revs to 4200 rpm, I release the clutch like normal and I get my best 60 ft ever a 1.92, so launch control will work, just don’t dump the clutch .

OK so, awesome launch, short shifted, just wanted to complete the run with no rev limiter.

1.92 60 ft
12.19 @ 116.54 mph very disappointed in the mph, but it will get better with a cool down, right?

Next run, 45 minute cool down,

Tried a slower clutch release with a higher rpm, seemed to like it until the clutch fully engaged then we had wheel spin, pedaled the throttle...

2.15 60ft
12.54 @ 117.60 mph, 1/8 mph was highest ever at 92 and change

Third pass, borrowed a fan, left EWP running, cooled car down to 149* coolant temp in 5 minutes. Got stuck behind the rodeo roundup, 15 or so 4x4 truck guys racing each other, coolant temp was in the 190’s at launch.

2.14 60 ft, missed third gear badly, got it in and..
12.43 @ 115.80 1/8 mph was 87 so it was pulling up top.

Summary, I think if I could have cooled the car down and made a decent pass it would have gone 118mph, still 6-7 short of my goal. I think I need to raise the rev limiter to stretch the gears out a bit more and I am sure the weather was not good for optimum results. (Drag times converted my runs to 121 mph) But I really think I need to get HP tuners hooked up to see what this car is doing, I really expected to run the first pass, short shifting and all to crack 120mph with ease, guess I should have known that like everything with this car it’s a fight (BTW the stereo amp for the highs started messing up last night, another battle)

On the plus side 4 people told me I have a nice or good looking car, one guy even stated that it was a "Beast of sexyness", I made sure I faced him at all times

Til next time....

Do you have a cai on that thing?

Get some scans so we can see what 's going on!

Oh and time to get some drag radials. You are going to get remarkably better results when you get some traction.

Justa, there where plenty of trucks but no mud bog event.

Joe I have a Vararam on the car along with anything else you can buy and bolt on. I agree drag radials would help get the launches more consistent and lower ET's but I doubt they would help show mph (power) as the car is not fighting traction all the way down the track.

Besides the air temp sensor in the front bumper area is there one in the intake tract? Something is pulling power on this thing for sure.

In lighter news I stopped in to a Ford Dealer and looked around today (tried to scare the vette a little), my buddy reported in from a private rental at PBIR this am, he drove a 2013 Shelby with drag radials, lower pulley, headers, tune, 50 shot and CAI, 9.77 @ 147mph! Last week it ran 10.92 @ 130 with a tune, cai and xpipe, then 10.0 @ 139 with a few more trinkets thrown at it, pulley and headers added 40 rwhp, think it's almost 900 rwhp and 1000 ftlbs torque now.

Those Mustatangs are sick for sure. I love them.

Your IAT sensor is integrated into the MAF.

Unless it has been modified, the stock tune pulls timing when IAT goes above 86*. Post the tune

I have no tune to post, it's locked up in Dan's notepad. Guess I will have to get some of them HP tuners to play around with, I know for sure it could use the rev limiter raised a bit. I'm sure it was pulling timing Dan won't turn that off, it was dynoed it 92 degree weather you think it would like it . In a side note I just ordered some small meth nozzels and a pump, think I might try it next Friday or Saturday.

I'm telling you if you get some drag radials you will go not only quicker but faster.

That pussyfooting you have to do with street tires is distance wasted when you are not at full throttle. You want to maximize time and distance at WOT.

I start when the tree is coming down and don't stop until redline in 4th.

Wow, remembering your posts from the beginning, your car seemed to be unusually low on the dyno and slow at the track all the way from stock to modified form. I'm beginning to wonder if you got a lemon motor. Ever done a compression and leak-down test? Inspected all the head and manifold ports to make sure there's not potatoes growing in them? Simply puzzling

Joe what do most guys go with C5 front wheels and 275/40/17 Mickeys? Wonder if anyone has had any luck with the 19" drag radials??

Ctusser, the car has always dynoed so so but that is mostly because of the dyno I use which seems to run about 13% off the local dyno jets. I recently ran the car on a dyno jet and it made 462 rwhp in 92 degree air, more than enough to crack 122-123 mph in the 1/4, that's the stumper. But I will admit after Friday, I had thought about breaking out the leak down tester, still may happen...

C5 fronts and 275 Mickeys. Tried and true. 19" are too tall never saw anyone have any luck with them.

Well that will work out well cause I need two of them for the Zephyer so I guess I'll break them in on the c6.

Know of anyone with some spare c5 fronts for sale? Off to venture in that section now.

I borrowed a buddies 19" mickeys and I hated them. Regardless of how I launched, the best I could do was a 1.7 60ft. They hooked great on the street but launching was awful

462whp in a lightweight car is one thing--you have the heaviest C6 you can get. Z06 added weight(brakes etc) without the lightened chassis. . . Get that thing on a scale, I bet you're tipping 3450 in street trim, maybe even 3550 with a full tank

Here come the fat jokes.

She's probably close to 3600lbs wet and occupied, it was on the scale before, but it's been like that for a while and ran 114mph like that with the throttle at 85% from the sound deadener mishap, granted in better weather. I would hope with 80+ more rwhp I would see more than a 3-4 mph gain .

Meth parts should be here middle of the week, going to install it on a push button to try it out, if it doesn't blow up I'll put it on a rpm window switch 4800-6800.

Picking up the drag radials (17's) tomorrow and think I found some ZO6 wheels to mount them on, just need to finish that deal up.

Awesome, can't wait to see how it does.

Personally, I would like the car to run the expected number before adding variables to the equation but hey, it's still hot here and you'll likely be waiting awhile for winter to show back up.

True, I would like to get into HP tuners and see a few runs to see what is happening down the track. Figure I'll put the meth on or start to and can always see if it does anything. Just spoke to Rob and my buddy George both said they will lend me their HP so atleast I can see what it does and what the car is doing.
