I have a c6 corvette and i am having problems with the starter. The car has longtubes on it and i was wondering if they would need to be dropped to replace the starter? I'm sure its just the starter solenoid, but any advise would be appreciated.

The headers will likely need to be loosened but not necessarily removed completely.
What I would suggest doing first is loosen all the bolts where the headers connect to the head. If you then loosen the bolts down below where they connect to the midpipe, that'll usually allow you to wiggle the header around quite a bit and gain access to the starter.
If you find that's still not enough then remove the bolts from the collector and that should give you the additional clearance you'll need but without having to remove the headers completely.
Just be sure to disconnect your battery though as it's pretty easy to short out your starter wiring when pulling everything apart (ask me how I know).

Depends on header brand. With American Racing headers you can replace it with messing with headers. Remember to disconnect battery first.
go with a powermaster aftermarket starter. the stock ones crack due to the heat. the powermaster solenoid is metal and doesnt crack. the cost of it is well worth not having to worry about starting problems anymore.
