Last week the power top on my 2007-3LT became inoperative. The Chev dealer replaced the body control module . Drove the car home w/o incident and later in the day the car would not start with the message" press brake to start" on display. Pressing brake did not remedy issue, but switching to acc and back allowed car to start. However, car remained locked in park. after several tries, found that park pawl apparently would disengage as system booted up allowing me to return car to dealer. They replaced shift control and shift **** which they indicated had to be broken to remove. Total cost $772.00. Picked up car and same problem presented. They changed fob battery and car started, however problem continues and upon return to dealer they indicated that as starting required significant pressure on brake pedal, the linkage would need to be adjusted which is currently in the process of repair.
I apologize for the rather convoluted narrative, but I am concerned that the dealer R/R'd parts where a linkage adjustment would have sufficed. They did not offer the replaced parts. How likely is it that the repair was necessary? Is there a way that I can " trust but verify" the dealers action?
I'd say, not after the fact (after replacement of parts that weren't saved) unless you want to tear things apart to see if the parts "look" new. That assumes you know what the part should look like used, and then new.
Maybe what you need to do is find an indie shop in your area that specializes in C6s. One that really knows the car. Unfortunately, looking at the map, you may have to travel some distance south to find one.
I would like to look into this concern for you with your dealer. Please contact me or Evan with more details regarding the fix. It will also be helpful to include your name, contact information, last eight of your VIN, current mileage, and dealer name.Thank you in advance.
