Default Really frustrating issue when cornering

Hey Guys,

The last time I was on the track, while in comp mode, anytime I put myself into a hard corner the car would essentially pop into neutral and then take few seconds of blipping the throttle before it went back into gear.

Later in the day I disabled EVERYTHING (not something I feel very comfortable doing) and it resolved the problem. This is not an ideal solution for me as I cannot control a drift at speed though so I'd really like to have comp mode on in case I make a mistake.

The car is an auto w/the Z51 option and I have it in 3 for the track.

I also notice on the street, when I'm getting on an onramp with a fun corner or something, if I pick up the pace a bit the car drops a gear when it shouldn't (I know how much throttle at what speeds = gear drop). However as I get close to the apex it just jumps down a gear and even after I let off, it stays at high rpm for 3-5 seconds.

Additionally, I noticed ocassionally (perhaps 3-5 times in the last year and a half) that at random moments the traction control light will pop on and it will say calibrating active handling for about 20 seconds, then turn off.

One other thing I've noticed that has caused it to act funny. Let me caveat this by saying I've done this perhaps 3 times in a year and a half and every time it's been late on empty highways.

I've taken it over 150 a couple of times and the road has been slightly uneven (very slight bumps which you can feel at that speed), but when that's happened the traction control light has popped on and sayed on and said service active handling. Please don't lecture me for driving at those speeds -as I have said I've done it very rarely and understand it's not a smart thing to do.

When I get home and turn it off, it's cleared when I start the car back up.

Hopefully all of this helps someone figure out what the heck is going on with the car. I'm going to the track on the 22nd and I really don't want to deal with these issues.

It could be related to the fluid level in the trans. The Hydra-Matic 400 was sensitive to the fluid level being a little low...it would slip a bit on left turns if the fluid level was not all the way up. Both C6 automatics are descended from this transmission, so that's something to check.

like it was free reving? or just a dead pedal?

It is as if you were driving a stick and pushed the clutch in.... rev all you want, but it's not in gear.

As for the fluid, I had it serviced recently so that couldn't be it.

Back around 2005-2006, I recall some posts discussing this "feels like it's in neutral around corners" issue on the 2005 A4 cars.

Most people were not reporting the problem, but I don't recall any solution coming out for those who did. At least one member had his dealer telling him "it's normal".

I would reverse that and say that having it serviced recently could absolutely be it. If they left the level low......

Even more reason to be worried about the fluid level or type used.
