My car threw a cade the other day so I checked it out with HP tuner and it shows a Crank trigger failure. Does anyone know the part number for the crank trigger? Is it a big PIA to change the crank trigger?

The part number is 12585546 and it's not that bad to replace.
It sits behind the starter so you'll have to remove that (2 bolts) and either loosen or remove the passenger side header in order to wiggle the starter away from the block far enough. You don't have to disconnect and wires going to the starter but ABSOLUTELY need to disconnect your battery first

Is there a header gasket and if so will the gasket be destroyed? Do I need to put any thread lock on the header bolts when I put the header back on? Does the header drop out through the bottom or can I take it out of the top?

Is heat what killed the sensor?
There should be a header gasket and unless it's really old you'll be able to reuse it and you don't need to put anything on the bolt threads
Try just disconnecting the header from the head and not take it out completely. That should allow you to move it enough to get the starter out. If you do end up having to remove the header it's hard to say as I've seen some get installed from the top and some down below.
I doubt the sensor died from the heat but the wiring for it might have.
The code just tells you where to look it doesn't say what part is bad. You should do the complete diagnostic that goes with that code before blindly replacing the part since there are other things in the circuit that cause the same code.
Fully agree^. I did the same thing on my son's Eclipse, and it was just chasing the symptoms. Code said crank sensor, but it ended up being a bad ignition relay.
