I cracked the rear diff in my 05, so I was looking into doing a c5 swap and I know I’ve seen a thread on what is all involved but I can’t find it now. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Michael

if you just cracked the case, and didn't harm the ring and pinion you can buy a second generation case and swap the internals get an adapter from RPM, ask JOE G
Perfect thank you both! I was actualy looking into both directions, but didnt know if there was a way to fit the interals in a new gen case. I'm going to keep looking in to both directions and see whats better for me thanks,

IMHO, unfortunately when the case cracks it subjects the guts to stresses they are not meant for and the tolerances are so tight on a diff. I would never try to use the guts again in another diff. You might be able to use the output shafts but they are weak and cheap enough to replace with good material - I would replace them.
Your results may vary - maybe someone has successfully done it but it's too expensive to keep swapping diffs and bending the trans output shaft for me to consider doing it.
The bad news is when the case cracks it usually bends the trans output shaft - you really need to check the runout. If its bent you have to rebuild the trans to replace it.
The cheapest option is to buy a used c5 diff and make the adaptor Spin wrote about linked above. C5 diffs are cheaper than c6 diffs.
You can pick up a 06+ diff but then you have to buy the trans rear case that fits the 06+ and it's around $400...Zip sells them as do dealers. You have to swap your reverse gear over to the new trans case.
I have everything already pulled out of the car and all the internals and the trans output shaft is still in good shape. I would like to do the C5 swap, do you know if ar designs is selling the mount? I think i found their web site but there is only import cars on there so I want sure if that was the right site.

I'd PM Spin for a reference, I don't know AR. Cartek made mine but I heard they won't make them anymore.
I hope you have good luck putting used gears in a new case...you still need to set up the gears, not an easy job and the tools to do it aren't cheap.
Of course if you're capable of doing all that yourself that's a different story, but I personally would never pay someone the big bucks it costs to rebuild a rear and put used gears in them. My understanding is once gears break in, the wear pattern is there for life..and if you change anything with the alignment of the gears (as you would in a new case) they would quickly start whining and be weak.
I am afraid you will be paying someone twice to build your rear. I'd buy new gears at a minimum. The gears aren't that expensive.
And with that I'll stop giving you advice you didn't ask for!
haha all advice is appreciated! if I do the c5 rear i'd rebuild it. If i did the 06 case i tought about puting the old gears in it just to save cost. I'm a college student so I try to save cost where I can.
A c5 working rear can be had for $600 or so if you watch eBay. If Spin sends you the dimensions on his mount you can make it yourself.
By far that is going to be your cheapest route. Last time I checked it was several hundred getting gears set up alone not counting the cost of the case.
