stock axle strength
In getting ready for the maryland trip Im freshening my trans. Anybody know how long my stock 05 axles should hold up to 1.3-1.40 60's ? Maybe with the a4 its not a problem? Anyone had this experience?

Depends a lot on the type of tires you plan on running and how you launch. Automatics tend to be a bit kinder to drivetrain parts. I don't hear about too many broken shafts, on an 05 the differential is the weak link, though most of the broken ones tend to be on manual cars.

Cool. Ill just build the trans and hope for the best..... If the track hooks as good as it should I will get some 1.3x 60`s. Im bringing a spare set of DRs if all goes well too.

After 80K miles and at least 2000 hard launches both mine are still in one piece and in great shape. It's actually the only stock drivetrain parts left on the car as I've broken pretty much everything else.

good to know. I hated the thought of getting all the way over there and breaking on the 2nd or third run... lol
