I have a 2006 Z51 with all stock suspension. While driving I was feeling/hearing a clunking on the left front. While inspecting I discovered that there were no bolts holding the shock to the lower control arm (left side). Further inspection revealed stripped out threads in the lower control arm.
Has anyone seen this before?
My options for fix are use longer bolt and nut, or new lower control arm. Don't want to go through expense and trouble of control arm if this is a common problem with them.
Checked right side, and 1 of the 2 bolts has done same as left.
The lower control arms aren't threaded for the shock bolts... They use a 2inchish bolt and nut. So, you should be able to just replace the bolts and nuts.
