Hi,guys, I got off of my lazy rump and decided to do something for a change.Well,I lift up the hood on my 09 Vette(second or third time since I owned the car) and i cleaned the throttle body.Well,I was surprised,it made that car run so much better. The car accelerates better and idles much smoother. It was 1 hour of maintenance that was well worth the time.Back to the couch.Rod
Sitting on the couch myself I have to ask. What do you do to clean a throttle body?
Hi,I went down to the parts house about 2 years ago and bought a can of throttle body cleaner.I removed the air cleaner and sprayed fhe cleaner into the throttle body while I the car idled for about 2 or 3 minutes. Then I used a CLEAN rag to clean the interior of the throttle body.Finished by wiping the out side of the throttle body.Really is easy.I followed the instructions on the can.Well worth the time. Rod
So would cleaning the throttle body be that necessary and make that much performance difference if you had a catch can installed inline to catch the oil residue?

Catch can collects oil vapor from the valley cover that would otherwise be sent to the intake manifold behind the throttle body by the PCV system. It has no effect on the throttle body, but instead prevents fouling the interior of the intake manifold and contributing to carbon buildup on pistons.
I use the MAF cleaner every month on my MAF when I clean my intake filter and I wipe down the throttle body inside as it can get a little dirty but not much really, mainly just at the pivotinf points.
