Default exhaust upgrade

I am looking to either buy stock zo6 manifolds/cats/hpipe (3in) or LG lt headers (2 1/2in) and from searching and reading about HP gains it seems like they are similar with about a 25 HP gain. Any thoughts/opinions on which would be better to get. I have 06 a6 coupe and it is my daily driver, I am planning to stay na for now. Car is stock except for cai and ported tb. Looking to install cam, intake manifold and possibly heads early next year.

i would definitely recommend just going with longtube headers. do 1 3/4" headers with a 3" intlet to 2 1/2" outlet x pipe to work with your factory 2 1/2" sized catback exhaust. that will make the best power for the LS2 engine.
I have a '12 grand sport with the LS3 engine of course...and i have kooks 1 3/4 coated headers, offroad x pipe, and my factory npp exhaust and a cold air intake and tune. i plan on doing heads/cam down the road. Hope this helps and good luck with your car!

You'll get a bit more horsepower and definately better torque with the longtubes. You'll also save a substantial amount of weight.

well...i have an offroad x pipe (no cats) so i did get a CEL but i got it tuned right after that. im not sure if you would get a CEL if you get an x pipe with high flow cats honestly. i just like the sound better with no cats and it wont pass inspection in most states technically....depends on who you go to to get it inspected i guess. in a lot of states even though having no cats is illegal, as long as you have no check engine light and the y dont look under the car and see there are none you will still pass (and they will never look under the car). im not trying to promote anything illegal here i dont want to get in trouble haha i just wanted to explain
